6 unusual facts about Colin Lee

2007–08 Torquay United F.C. season

After the most chaotic and disastrous season in Torquay's history, chairman Mike Bateson eventually sold the club to an eight-man consortium with Alex Rowe appointed as the new chairman and former-Gull Colin Lee returning as chief executive.

Colin Lee

His task was not helped by the sale of several key players, including top scorer Ade Akinbiyi, towards the end of his spell as Wolves manager.

However, he was sacked in March 2004 after allegedly talking to Plymouth Argyle about the possibility of replacing Paul Sturrock as manager, and his successor Paul Merson was unable to stave off relegation.

José Júnior

Despite the best efforts of Walsall manager Colin Lee to sign him permanently, Júnior moved on to Derby County in August 2003; in his final game at Bescot Stadium, he had demonstrated his skills perfectly by scoring a hat-trick against the Rams.

Lee Canoville

He played only one further game for Northampton before returning to Highbury, and although attracting interest from Torquay manager Colin Lee, remained there beyond transfer deadline day.

Wes Saunders

He struggled to maintain the progress made by Hodges and in the 2000–01 season, Torquay struggled to the extent that former player Colin Lee was brought in as a consultant.
