The city of Novi Vinodolski is situated in the northern Croatian Littoral, at Vinodol Riviera of the Adriatic Sea, south of Crikvenica, Selce and Bribir and north of Senj.

Antun Mažuranić (Novi Vinodolski, June 13 1805 - December 18 1888, Zagreb) was Croatian writer and linguist.
Other castles or property of the Frankopans could be found in Ribnik, Bosiljevo, Novi Vinodolski, Drivenik, Ogulin, Slunj, Ozalj, Cetingrad, Trsat, and other surrounding towns.
In 1484–1494 in Grobnik he copied the Drugi novljanski brevijar ("The Second Novi Vinodolski Breviary") for the Pauline monastery in Novi Vinodolski, a Glagolitic codex in 500 folios.
At Senj, the Uskoci of Klis were soon joined by other refugees from Novi Vinodolski in northwestern Croatia, from Otočac on the Gacka River, and from other Croatian towns and villages.

Their presence has also been traced near Učka in Istria, where such significant family names as Novlian (from Novi Vinodolski), Ottocian (from Otočac) and Clissan (from Klis, older orthography), were noted by Franceschi in 1879.
