In early 1945 he moved, again as Station Commander, to RAF Molesworth home of the USAF 303rd Bombardment Group and remained there until September when he attended a ‘’Methods of Instruction’’ course at the RAF Senior Staff College.
These units are assigned to airfields at RAF Fairford, RAF Croughton, RAF Alconbury, RAF Molesworth and RAF Menwith Hill.
The last mission for the 303d was flown on 25 April 1945 when it attacked an armament works in Pilsen.

Each of the four bunkers contained three bays housing one BGM-109G Ground Launched Cruise Missile Transporter Erector Launcher (TEL) and sixteen missiles, and two launch control centres and a MAN KAT1 8x8 tractor.
His brother, Mark Mathis was also a bombardier who had requested an assignment to the 303d Bombardment Group, at Molesworth, England; the same group as which his brother Jack was assigned.

Women's only peace camps were based at Waddington, Lincs from April 1982- September 82 and Capenhurst October 1982-March 1983 Other, mixed-sex, peace camps sprang up at the military bases of Upper Heyford, Daws Hill in High Wycombe, RAF Molesworth, Lakenheath, Naphill and Faslane.
